Silven Albert “Sonny” Mayeux, 81, of Winnie, Texas went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, November 26, 2018. Sonny was born on November 19, 1937 to Haven Albert and Evelina Mayeux in Galveston, Texas. Sonny married the love of his life, Darlene Wise, on April 4, 1959; they enjoyed over 59 years of marriage. Sonny and Darlene raised their five children in Beaumont, Texas. Sonny was the owner of Sonny’s T.V. and Appliance repair on N. 5th Street in Silsbee, Texas. Sonny was not afraid to take on any tasks, he was good at making things with his hands, especially furniture.
Sonny’s family described him as a man who was loving, had a big heart, and an even bigger sense of humor. Sonny loved his family and was always willing to make time for them, especially the grandchildren. He would give them attention and make sure they always felt special in their own way. He and Darlene would move to Winnie, Texas so they could be closer to grandchildren. Sonny’s son Mike wrote the following about his Dad.
“As children, we look forward to firsts – the first day of school, the first time to ride a bike without training wheels, the first time to go on a date, the first time to drive a car. Firsts seem happy and are something we treasure. But, somewhere along the line, we suffer a loss, and we must adjust. And then the firsts that come can bring about a sadness that is hard to shake. And so, as we travel through this life of firsts and other challenging moments in our shock and our sadness, we are forced to let go, one finger at a time. For me, the milestones will be hard, but some of the most difficult things to get past so far for me have been the ones I didn’t see coming. Dad was happily rocking my newborn daughter in the rocking chair when she was just a few days old and I heard him singing to her and having a one-sided conversation with her. You are truly my superhero in plain clothes. I can’t recall the number of times you bailed me out of sticky situations. I don’t know what I’ll do without you. I love you so much, Dad!”
Revelation 21:4 “He will wipe every tear from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”
Sonny is survived by his loving wife, Darlene Mayeux; Daughters, Marilyn Pohly, and husband, Mark, Theresa Cheaney, and husband, David, sons, Skip Mayeux, Mike Mayeux, and wife, Tricia, and William Mayeux, and wife, Christi; 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 1 honorary grandchild, an exchange student from Germany; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
