Sherry Smith

Sherry Smith, age 72, passed away on March 12, 2019. She was born on September 1, 1946 to Charlie Clarence McGalin and Jessie Lee in Buna, TX.

A sweetheart with a feisty side, Sherry enjoyed the many varieties that life brings. Her funny and outgoing personality brought joy into many lives, especially children, she had a beautiful connection to them. She fished, hunted, and enjoyed watching Walker Texas Ranger; In Sherry’s eyes, Chuck Norris was simply “the best”. Although she had many hobbies, nothing compared to spending time with her family. Whether she was holding her grandchildren or playing music with her son, Jeff, spending time with family was the most important thing in her life.

Left to honor her memory is her son, Jeff Kellum and wife, Toni of Lumberton, TX; daughter, Sherry Millette of Kirbyville, TX; brother, Henry McGalin of Evadale, TX; sisters Charlene Butchee of Buna, TX, Irma Matlock of Buna, TX, Vivian Crawford of Buna, TX, Jerri McGalin of Jasper, TX; grandchildren; Kane Kellum, Emily Kellum, Tia Kellum, Jacob Wright, Alex Wright, Skyler Kellum, Selena Kellum; great-grandchildren, Eli Aidyn.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Clarence McGalin and Jessie Lee.

A visitation will be held at the Lumberton Family Funeral Home Chapel from 12:00pm to 2:00pm on March 15, 2019. A service honoring the life of Sherry will commence at 2:00pm on March 15, 2019 with Pastor Nathan Keating officiating. A burial service will take place at Memorial Park and Evergreen Cemeteries in Jasper, TX.
