Shannon Coyle Obituary

Shannon “NaNa” Coyle

1966 – 2018

Shannon Sher "NaNa" Coyle, age 52, passed away on November 9, 2018. She was born in El Paso, TX on June 25, 1966 to Robert Burgess and Sheila Drake Burgess.

Always known as a caring person, Shannon worried about the needs of others before herself. If someone was in need, she would give you the shirt off her back. This was especially true for her family. She was outspoken, and if Shannon thought something; she would say it. Brenda, her partner, met her while their kids were growing up together. They truly were a team, both at work and as a family. They would scarcely leave each other’s side, working together and sharing their love for many years. Shannon was creative, and she applied this creativeness to her career. She knew how to, and would often show others, how to make the ice cream cakes she made for Dairy Queen. Her talents were not limited to cooking, she would often take boxes and other items to make doll houses and gifts for her family members. Bingo was one of her favorite activities, often taking Brenda and other family members with her. She was “Nana” to most, “Mom” to her son and daughter, but to all that loved her; her fabulous and creative personality will live on in the memory of their hearts.

Left to honor her memory is her partner of 19 years, Brenda Douglas; daughter, Shanuel Simmons of Gulfport, MS; son, Jimmie Wayne Coyle of Lumberton, TX; step-daughters, Rebecca Douglas of Livingston, TX and Erica Douglas of Lumberton, TX; step-son, Jeremy Douglas of Hattiesburg, MS; sister, Shon Sheree Burgess of Oklahoma; brother, Shane Burgess of Dallas, TX; 14 grandchildren; 3 nieces; 2 nephews; 2 great-nieces; and 2 great-nephews.

Preceding Shannon in death were her parents.
