Robert A. Wilson Jr.
1956 - 2019
Robert Allen Wilson Jr. passed away on June 15, 2019. He was born on April 26, 1956 in Lake Charles, LA to Robert Allen Wilson Sr. and Edith Louise Limbocker Wilson.
A loving man, Robert was devoted to the things and people that were most important in his life. He had a distinctive sense of humor that brought a smile even through the tough times; no matter how he felt, he would often poke fun at himself and the situation, helping all to keep a positive attitude. Enlisting with honor and distinction in the United States Marine Corps during the spring of 1974, he offered much of his youth in the service of his country and would spend over 2 years in the Vietnam War. While stationed in the Philippines, he met, and on January 31, 1976, married the love of his life, Ony, and they would spend the next 43 years by each other’s side, producing a legacy of their love in their 4 children and 6 grandchildren. Robert may have had a tough, hard outer shell, but beneath was a heart that beat lovingly for his family. He was strict when raising his children, doing his best to invest in them a deep respect and many other admirable qualities. Robert’s memory of love and spirit of living for his family will forever be cherished, as he lives on in their hearts.
Left to honor his memory is his loving wife of 43 years, Ony Wilson; sons, Robert A. Wilson III and wife, Kathy, Joaquin "Tommy" Wilson and wife, Dell and Jeffery Wilson; daughter, Ann Smith and husband, BJ; brother. Thomas Wilson; sisters, Louise Mills and Barbara Guilbeau; grandchildren, Nadyne Wilson, Megan Wilson, Eve Wilson, Elias Wilson, Jordan Smith and Faith Smith; and numerous extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Nancy Wilson.
Visitation with family and friends will be 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Sunday, July 14, 2019, at Lumberton Family Funeral Home, 766 S. Main St., Lumberton, TX. Robert's life honoring memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m., also at the funeral home.
