Robert Chapman Swearingen, Sr.
May 7, 1936 ~ August 6, 2017 (age 81) 81 Years OldRobert Chapman Swearingen, Sr., 81, of Lumberton, TX went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 6, 2017. Robert was born on May 7, 1936 to Chapman and Eva Swearingen in Spurger, TX. Robert attended Spurger High School and then went on to receive an associates degree from Lamar University. Robert retired from DuPont after 32 years of service.
Robert was known for his willingness to help others; he was an accomplished handyman and even built a house for his mother. Robert and his loving wife of 61 years, Fay Crysel Swearingen, raised three children in a Christian home and were an example of faith and commitment to their family. Robert was a Full Gospel Minister and lead a prison ministry.
Robert and Fay traveled extensively in an RV when they were younger, so much so, that Robert could tell you the most scenic route to travel to just about anywhere. Robert enjoyed hunting and fishing and even had a pond to fish in at one time. Robert was a good father and grandfather, but he will be remembered for his devotion to his wife Fay.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Fay Crysel Swearingen; sons, Robert Swearingen, and wife, Caprice, of Kountze, TX, and Wayne Swearingen, and wife, Nancy, of Tyler, TX; a daughter, Alice Smith, and husband Gary, of Honey Island, TX; grandchildren, Justin Smith, of Honey Island, TX, Brandy Freeman, and husband, Wayne, of Lumberton, TX, Stephanie Wright, and husband, Ben, of Raleigh, NC, and April Brothers, and husband, Trey, of Kountze, TX; great grandchildren, Logan, Raven, Izabella, Madison, Mason, and Adaline; a special friend, Sandra Fulton; and a sister, Mary Jeans.
