Robert L. Davis

January 26, 1926-May 26, 2019

Robert L. Davis died on May 26, 2019, in Beaumont, Tx, at the age of 93. A World War II veteran, Robert served in the Second Marine Division. He fought on Saipan and Okinawa in the Pacific Front, and he was part of the Marine force that entered Nagasaki, Japan, shortly after the atomic bomb was dropped there.

After completing his service in the Marine Corps, Robert began a career in the oilfield. He worked for Baker Oil Tools for many years. In 1947, he married Betty Catherine Andrews, who died in 1997. They were married 49 years and had two children, James E. Davis and Jenny Penner. Later Robert married Iona (Tina) Harwood. They enjoyed many happy years as they traveled the United States together in their RV. Robert and Tina spent their remaining years at the Escapees Care Center, an independent living center in Livingston, Texas. A devoted Christian, Robert Davis was a member of First Baptist Church of DeSoto, Texas.

Robert is survived by his wife, Tina Davis, of Livingston, Tx; his sister, Lillian Myers, of Kingsville, Tx; his son, James E. Davis, and wife Joan of Plano, Tx; his daughter, Jenny Penner, and husband Joe of Beaumont, Tx; his  grandson,  Andrew  Penner,  and  wife  Valerie  of Lumberton, Tx; and his granddaughter, Elisabeth Hale, and husband John of Houston, Tx. Mr. Davis is also survived by his two great grandchildren, Ava Penner and Ethan Penner, of Kountze, Tx, and by his stepsons, Tommy Harwood, and wife Marty of Livingston, Tx, and Wesley Harwood of Livingston, Tx.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery on May 29, 2019, at 10:00 a.m., and a memorial service will be held in Livingston, Texas, at a later date.

The children and grandchildren of Robert Davis convey a special thanks to Tina Davis for being such a devoted caregiver to Robert in his later years. A further thank you is given to Serenity Assisted Care Living Center in Beaumont, Texas.
