Rev. Leon Cross

Reverend Leon Cross went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at the age of 83. Reverend Cross was born in Upsher County on August 21, 1934 to William and Emma Cross.

On January 3, 1953 he married Christine Haywood. Reverend Cross served in the United States Army and he was in ministry for 40 plus years. He pastored in Mauriceville for 12 years, was Senior Pastor at New Life Church for the past 6 years. He also pastored churches in Terrell, Texas; Pecos, Texas; Mabank, Texas; Longview, Texas and Gist, Texas.

His favorite scripture of all time was Acts 2:38 and you hear him say very often his favorite saying, “God is good all the time.”

Reverend Cross is survived by his wife, Christine Cross of Mauriceville, Texas; son David Cross of Longview, Texas; son Donnie Cross and wife, Diane of Mesquite, Texas; son Darrell Cross and wife, Prissy of Rockwall, Texas; daughter Martha Mitchell and husband, Harley of Odessa, Texas; son-in-law Waymonn Berryhill of Longview, Texas; 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Emma Cross; daughter Debby Berryhill; 1 brother and 2 sisters.

A Life Honoring Service will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the Lumberton Family Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will take place Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Hill Cemetery in Longview, Texas.
