Murrell C. Avery

Murrell Cheatwood Avery, 72, Of Lumberton, TX passed away on Monday, August 21, 2017.
Murrell was born on August 29, 1944 in Powderly, TX to Benjamin (Benny) and Leona
Cheatwood. Murrell was a wonderful, caring daughter, wife, mother, MeMee, and friend. She
would help anyone at any time; she was especially generous with her love. Murrell and her
husband, Ronald D. Avery, were married over 50 years and created a great life and great
memories. To Murrell, being a Mom, her children, and grandchildren were more important
than eternity.
Murrell is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ronald D. Avery; a grandson they raised as
their own, Dylan Karl Avery.
Murrell is survived by a son, Leslie Karl Avery; a daughter, Rhonda Avery Fortenberry;
grandchildren, Wesley Thomas Davis, and wife, Breanna, Lane Garrett Fortenberry, and fiance,
Kelsey Nichols, and Katie Nicole Fortenberry; great grandchildren, Skyler, Brycen, Preston, and
Dax.
The Family will receive friends on Friday, August 25, 2017 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm in the Chapel
at Lumberton Family Funeral Home, 766 S. Main St., Lumberton, TX 77657.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 1:00pm in the Chapel at
Lumberton Family Funeral Home. Interment will follow immediately at Forest lawn Cemetery
in Beaumont, TX.
