Mary Eva McLaughlin

Mary Eva McLaughlin, age 91, passed away on October 11, 2019.  Mary was born in Hathaway, LA on September 8, 1928 to Avillion Duhon and Edna Mae (Borque) Duhon.

Spunky, yet elegant, Mary was a unique person with many talents and loved to bless others with her gifts. She loved to cook and entertain friends and was excellent at it. She learned to cook international food from fellow officer’s wives, preparing their native dishes in fantastic form. She was intentional with her food and presentation and continually expressed her inventive capability through cooking. She was always fashionable and was also a talented seamstress, often making beautiful evening gowns. An award winning and much sought out hairdresser, Mary loved her career and was very proud of her accomplishments and artistic flair with hair. She was a loving and charming soul, each moment spent with Mary are now cherished memories that her family finds peace in.

Left to honor her memory is her daughters, Kathy Richard and husband, Charles, and Irene Rand; brother, Wayne Duhon Sr.; and grandchild, Ryan Rand.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Mayo R. McLaughlin; brother, John Duhon; and sister, Barbara Hughes.

Visitation for family and friends will be Saturday, October 19, 2019 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at The Apostolic Church of Beaumont, 3333 Eastex Fwy, Beaumont, TX. A life honoring service will be held Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at The Apostolic Church of Beaumont, 3333 Eastex Fwy, Beaumont, TX.
