Marcus “Keith” Hext passed away peacefully at the age of 64 on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 in Beaumont, TX. Keith was born on Sunday, November 15, 1953 in Beaumont, TX to Lemial Odell Hext and Esther Joyce Randall. Keith was a proud member of the varsity basketball team and graduated from South Park High School in Beaumont, TX in 1972. Keith soon found his career in retail management with Target for over 30 years as a well-loved employee where he worked tirelessly to uplift those around him and greatly enjoyed his axillary roles with Target’s various charitable affiliations. Keith spent a majority of his life in Mid West City, OK and when not working, Keith could often be found on the softball fields pursuing his favorite past time as both a player and an umpire until he was well into his 50s. Whether the topic was antique glass or Texas history, Keith could be depended upon to share his wealth of knowledge whenever asked. Those who had the privilege of knowing Keith knew him to be a hard worker, a true people person and most of all generous; in fact, many would easily say Keith was the most generous person they ever have known, and he will be deeply missed.
Keith was preceded in death by his father, Lemial Odell Hext. Left to carry his memory and legacy of generosity to others is his loving mother, Esther Joyce Randall and husband Joe; daughter, Melodie Hext; sister, Joy Kozlowski and husband Russell; brother Collin Hext and wife Hope; nieces and nephews, Jennifer Arnold and husband Travis, Kevin Hext, Tyler Kozlowski, and Zach Kozlowski; as well as numerous co-workers, church members, and friends.
The family will receive friends and family for a time of visitation at Lumberton Family Funeral Home in Lumberton, TX on Monday, August 6, 2018 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Services honoring the life of Marcus “Keith” Hext will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, August 6, 2018 with burial immediately following at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont, TX.
In lue of flowers, the family is asking that you continue Keith’s marvelous legacy of generosity by donating to South Park Baptist Church of Beaumont, TX or Voth Baptist Church of Beaumont, TX to assist with the rebuilding efforts of both these treasured church homes of Mr. Hext.
