Linda Bell Obituary

Linda Ann Kersey Bell

1949-2019

Linda Ann Bell, age 69, passed away on February 7, 2019. She was born in Dover, DE on March 27, 1949 to Charles E. Kersey, Sr. and Nancy Banks Otis.

A faithful and caring person, Linda lived her life in a simple way. With a charitable heart, she was the sweetest person and very few people disliked her. She made everyone feel special: sending cards on special occasions, rejoicing with gratitude over the smallest gift from others and investing her love for her family into her famously thoughtful stocking stuffers at Christmas. While working a part-time job, she met a young Air Force serviceman from Texas named Dan. After marrying on November 30, 1968, they shared a fifty-year love story that most people never see. Dan rescued her from the North and brought her to Texas, where she raised their two wonderful children. They knew each other as “Honey”, and for all their years together, they spoiled and waited on one another hand and foot. Linda was really a compassionate person, but sometimes did not know how to show it. She could be blunt at times, especially to her children and grandchildren, but they loved their mom and “Nana” and would always come back for more. With her gentle and kind nature, “Mrs. Linda” was a second mother to many children and spent nearly 15 years as a nanny; becoming known as “Mom” to several that she helped care for, she considered them family. Linda loved anything she could do without having to make decisions or leave the house, making the exception to vacation with Dan and her family. In their brown station wagon with the back seats down and Dan in the back with the kids singing and Linda driving, they would take their biannual trip back to Delaware; along the way, they made several stops, likely visiting every cave from Texas to Delaware. Family was most important to Linda, and she always took care of her family; Dan never came home to a messy house or an unmade bed, and there was always a warm, home-cooked meal that was eaten around the table as a family. Linda always made sure there was something to eat; insisting on others to come over for a good meal, she was known for her awesome Chicken Fried Steak and her notable “Linda Cakes” that she made for birthdays and special occasions. Linda will be missed, and her memory cherished, until her loved ones see her again.

Left to honor her memory is her loving husband of 50 years, Dan Bell; daughter, Penny Pace and husband, Mark, of Lumberton; son, Daniel Bell and wife, Regina, of Spurger, TX; her mother; brothers, Charles E. Kersey Jr. and wife, Barbara, of Greenwood, DE and Thomas E. Kersey of Dover, DE; grandchildren, Seth Pace and wife, Taylor, of Nederland, TX, Brooke Pace and Jessica Bell; and numerous nieces and nephews that love her dearly.

Linda is preceded in death by her grandson, Joshua Watts and her father.
