Leon Paul Zimmerman

1950 – 2018

Leon Paul Zimmerman, age 68, of Silsbee, Texas, passed away on November 30, 2018. He was born on January 1, 1950 in Batchtown, IL to Paul and Zita Zimmerman.

“A man's got to do what a man's got to do”. One of Leon’s favorite actors, John Wayne said those words and Leon lived by them. Leon Zimmerman didn’t know how to slow down. He was a hard worker but also wouldn’t pass up an opportunity to horseplay. He loved joking with family and friends, often using witty pranks to startle his family. You could not ask for a more devoted husband and father. If you did something wrong he would tell you but his compassion for his entire family was unmatched. His integrity was displayed in full color when he purchased a lotto ticket from a gas station attendant. He told her that if he won, he would split the prize with her. Much to her surprise Leon came back and gave the attendant $200 of the $400 prize. He was a man of his word and had the heart of a giver.

Left to honor his memory is his wife, Georgia Zimmerman; his mother, Zita Zimmerman; Sons, Mark and wife Shanna Zimmerman, Jason and wife Crystal Zimmerman; brother Lionel and wife Peggy Zimmerman, Zane and wife Mary Zimmerman, Xavier Zimmerman; Sisters, Xandra and husband Charles Smoot, Paula Frayley; Grandchildren, Zachery, Kirsten, Kati, Keely, Karsyn, Kanaan; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Alayla, Christopher, Rusty.

Preceding Leon in death is his father, Paul Laverne Zimmerman and his brother, Lyle Zimmerman.
