Larry Ervin Baker

Larry Ervin Baker, age 61, passed away Thursday July 20, 2017. He was born to Russell Erwin Baker and Margaret A. Nesler on December 28, 1955 in Beaumont, Texas.

Larry spent his working years as a truck driver. He loved cars; hot rods were his favorite. Drag Races was a past time that he enjoy. Larry had an extensive collection of hot wheels and model cars. Working on his 1983 Chevy Truck was a hobby Larry truly enjoyed and it made him proud.  Going to car shows was something he liked to do. Larry was one not to be bother when the Dallas Cowboys were playing.  Larry was a Marine veteran, serving as a Corporal in the United States Marine Reserves during the Vietnam Era. Making rabbit ears behind someone's head was something that the "jokster" Larry would do when you were not looking. He loved to fish and eat. He was a faithful man who loved our Lord. His children held a special place in his heart. Larry will be missed by all who loved him but his legacy will continue.

Left to honor his memory is his father, Russell E. Baker of Vidor, TX; son, Joshua Benjamin Baker and wife, Ashley of LA; daughters, Casey Tate and husband, Trent of Beaumont, TX, Shelly DeSoto and husband, Matthew of LA, Christie Harry and husband, Jim of  Va., Rachel McNiel and husband, Garrett of Orange, TX; brothers, Donnie Baker and wife, Angie of Vidor, Michael Boyett of Vidor, TX; sister, Dorothy Simmons of Vidor, TX; also survived by seven grandchildren.

Preceding Larry in death is his mother, Margaret A. Nesler Boyett; and brother in law, George "Billy" Simmons.

Visitation with family and friends will be 5:00-7:00 pm, Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Lumberton Family Funeral Home, 766 South Main St. Lumberton, TX. Larry's life honoring service will be 10:00 am. Thursday July 27, 2017, also at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Mike Tanner. Internment at Rest Lawn Memorial Park in Vidor, TX.  Serving as pallbearers are Donnie Baker, Austin Baker, Garon Ferguson, Billy Simmons, Joey Miller and Elmer Smith.
