LaRay Susan (Hammond) Smith

                LaRay Susan Hammond Smith, age 65, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 27, 2018 with her beloved husband by her side at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, TX   She was born Sunday, March 22, 1953, in Woodbury, NJ to Joyce and Albert Hammond Sr.  She grew up in Sewell, NJ and graduated high school from Clearview High School in 1971.  After high school, she came to Texas in 1975.  She married Darrell Steven Smith on January 15, 1976.  LaRay was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother.  Mrs. Smith was a loud, crazy, fun lady; most would even call her a firecracker.  She will be missed by many. 

She is proceeded in death by her mother, Joyce Hammond and her father, Albert Hammond, Sr; her brother, Albert Daniel Hammond, Jr. and her son, David Michael Smith.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Darrell S. Smith and her sons, Brian Steven Smith, Jason Alexander Smith and his wife Amanda, and Curtis Wayne Smith; her step son Daniel Matthew Smith and his wife Kayla; her daughter Alicia LaRay Smith; her step daughter Kimberly Ann Mitchell and her husband Daniel; her loving brother Chuck Hammond and partner Sherry Gottshalk; and numerous well loved grandchildren.

The family will receive friends and family for a time of visitation, Tuesday, July 31, 2018, from 5-7 pm.  A life honoring service will be held at Lumberton Family Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 10am.  Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Part in Vidor, TX at 2pm.
