Kathryn Elaine Sanders

Kathryn Elaine Sanders, age 62, of Lumberton, TX, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2017. She was born to Bobby and Melba Bumgardner Carr on February 27, 1955 in Victoria, TX.

“Love is patient, love is kind…” 1 Cor. 13:4 summed up the life of this special woman. Kathryn Elaine Sanders was a loving, selfless person. Her life was devoted to the care of those around her, especially her family. With Kathy, it was about love for others that mattered most, often saying to her children to “be a lover, not a fighter.” The love of her life, Keith Sanders, first saw her outside a diner in her hometown of Victoria, TX, and after he guessed her name right in one try, she agreed to go to lunch with him the next day. That lunch would lead to 36 years of marriage she would spend with Keith. To Keith and her kids, she was their rock, always being there to carry them through. Her memory was like an elephant’s, always remembering birthdays and special dates. From a young age, music was a passion for her. She qualified for the All State Choir for 3 years while in high school and traveled all over the state to sing. When Kathy and Keith’s favorite song “Brown Eyed Girl” would play on the radio, Keith would often call to let her listen to it over the phone. “Honey”, as Kathy was known to her grandkids, was always finding ways to love on them. She always excelled in her careers, moving to the top very quickly because of her work ethic. Kathy will be missed dearly by all those that knew her to epitomize “Love” in their lives.

Left to honor her memory is her loving husband, Keith Stratton Sanders, Sr.; her parents; daughter, September Franks and husband, Jared, of Lumberton, TX; sons, Blake Worthington and wife, Sarah, of Lumberton, TX and Stratton Sanders Jr. and wife, Shana, of Lumberton, TX; sisters, Marianne Winn and husband, Mark, of Lesterville, MO and Martha Peoples of Victoria, TX; grandchildren, Laecey Repka, Sydney Worthington, Brooke Worthington, Caitlyn Worthington, Ashley Worthington, Layla Franks, Lane Franks, Kaylee Sanders, Carter Wilson, Claire Wilson and Olivia Sanders; and great-grandchildren, Colt Repka, Stella Repka and December Schirmer.

Visitation with family and friends will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at Lumberton Family Funeral Home at 766 S. Main St. Lumberton, TX. Kathy’s life honoring service will follow on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at 2:00 p.m., also at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Cody Sellers, Logan Sellers, Ben Mott, Jesse Ward, James Repka and Ryan Seamon.
