Kathleen Joanne Griffith

Born to parents Carolyn Gardner and David Griffith at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska on November 4, 1969.  She graduated from Bellevue East High School in Bellevue, Nebraska in 1989; while in high school she participated in ROTC.  Her father, David Griffith, died while she was in high school. After high school Kathleen worked at a fast food restaurant in South Omaha and did babysitting.  From 1990 – 1996 she worked as a shift manager at Burger King and worked in the deli at Hy-Vee Grocery. Kathleen decided to further her education and enrolled in the Culinary Arts program at Metropolitan Community College in Omaha, Nebraska; she graduated with an Associates Degree in Culinary Arts in 1995.  In 1996 Kathleen and her mother Carolyn moved from Omaha, Nebraska to Apache Junction, Arizona where she was Restaurant Manager at Burger King.  When the store closed, she worked as the front-end manager at Fry’s Grocery from 1999-2004.  Later, Kathleen worked as Assistant Manager at Taco Bell in Scottsdale, Arizona and moved on to become Manager of Taco Bell in Maricopa, Arizona from 2004-2012.  In 2013 she and her mom moved to Silsbee, Texas where she would further her education by getting a degree in Billing and Coding at Kaplan College in Beaumont, Texas. Kathleen was a straight “A” student on the dean’s list.  Graduating in 2013 and unable to get a job in Billing and Coding, she started working as a cashier at Wal-Mart in Silsbee, Texas from 2013 until she recently became ill.  After 2 months in Village Creek Rehab Center in Lumberton, Texas the Lord took her home on Monday, March 11, 2019.

Kathleen is survived by her mother, Carolyn Gardner, of Lumberton, Texas; her older sister, Diane Taylor, of Silsbee, Texas; her older brother, Robert Griffith, of Los Angeles, California; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  She will be greatly missed.

A life honoring memorial service will be held on Monday, March 25, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at the Lumberton Family Funeral Home Chapel located at 766 S. Main Street in Lumberton Texas.

The family requests that donations be made to the Diabetes and Heart Associations in her name.
