Juanita “Nita” Waldrep
1929 – 2018
Juanita “Nita” Waldrep, age 88, passed away on October 30, 2018. She was born in Booneville, MS on November 15, 1929 to Edna Carpenter Garner and Curtis Alonzo Garner.
A sweet, caring woman, Juanita always worried about others instead of herself. Never grumbling or complaining, Juanita would often respond with “I’m fine” and then ask how you were doing. Even before someone needed to ask, Juanita was there to help. She was all about family. For many years, she worked hard to help provide for her family. Animals had a special place in her heart, taking care of and rescuing many over her lifetime. There was always a smile on her face, reflecting her good sense of humor and her love of a good time. As a waitress at the Pompano Club, she met Leland Waldrep. They fell in love, marrying and sharing many years together until his passing in November 2013. As sweet-natured as Juanita was, she was a fighter. After going through some tough times in her marriage to Leland, they discovered a newfound passion for the Lord and never looked back. She had a simple, focused faith that reflected her caring spirit. All those that Juanita loved and cared for will never forget how she touched their lives.
Left to honor her memory are a daughter, Carol Cavett and husband, Jeff, of Beaumont, TX; son, Don Grisham and wife, Delores, of Mauriceville, TX; grandchildren, Kayla Graffagnino, Eric Grisham, Adam Grisham and wife, Katie, Melissa Ward and husband, Kevin, Tiffany Suba and husband, Edwin, Tricia Grisham and fiancé, Colin, Micah Grisham and fiancé, Kim, Clint Grisham and wife, Katelyn, Kristie Grisham and husband, Paul, and Wesley Grisham; 15 great-grandchildren; her caretakers for her last three years, Brenda Zavala and Jaime Gutierrez; and her dog, “Pappy”.
