Joy McFaddin Obituary

Joy Ann McFaddin

1941 - 2019

Joy Ann McFaddin, age 77, passed away on March 10, 2019. She was born in Fort Worth, TX on November 8, 1941 to Vernon Ross Fowler and Pearl Sebring Hilliker.

Loving, faithful and honest, Joy was giving in countless ways, putting the needs of others above her own. A strong, God fearing woman; her life revolved around her family and her church. She met her husband, Jim, in high school, where he would often sit behind her in class pulling on her pony tail. He wrote letters to her while he served in the military, and when he got home, they started dating. Marrying on November 23, 1961, they spent the rest of their lives together. Family was everything to her, and there was nothing she admired or appreciated more. She loved them, prayed with Jim every morning for each of them and was proud of their every accomplishment and achievement, always wanting the best for them. Joy was a very classy lady and was always put together. She was an expert organizer and perfectionist: teaching Jim how to fold his socks a certain way; ironing their sheets for many years; and making the tightest bed you would ever see. Possessing an honest and plain-spoken nature, she would speak her mind; “Wait on the Lord” and “Trust Him”, she would often respond quickly to situations. But she had a silly side too; if Jim or anyone ever needed to find her, she would promptly respond to the owl-like sound of “hoody hoo”. A mean cook, she could throw down in the kitchen, and she possessed an exceptional green thumb. Her family, many church friends and loved ones will dearly miss her strong, caring nature, as she waits for them in Heaven. Until they see her again, she lives on in their memories and smiles, summoned by a simple “hoody hoo” that she responds to in their hearts.

Left to honor her memory is her loving husband of 57 years, James E. “Jim” McFaddin III; daughter, Dana Patrick and husband, Ike, of Garland, TX; sons, James McFaddin IV of Houston, TX and Andrew McFaddin and wife, Nancy, of Bay City, TX;  brother-in-law, Benny O’dell McGee; grandchildren, Marion McFaddin, Alex McFaddin and wife, Elizabeth, Kaley McFaddin, Kristen Patrick and Andy McFaddin; great-grandchildren, Aleela McFaddin; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and loved ones.

Joy is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jack Fowler; sister, Alma Dee McGee; and grandson, Joel David Patrick.
