Joseph Louis Bartholdi Jr., age 93, of Kountze, TX, passed away on December 24, 2018 in Groveton, TX. He was born to Joseph L. Bartholdi and Mary McCall Bartholdi on June 9, 1925 in Jeansville, PA.
He was an outdoors-man; he loved hunting, fishing, and gardening. His favorite place to be outdoors was at Joe’s deer camp on the Push Road, off Sapp Graveyard Road in Hardin county. He was a truck driver for various trucking companies over the years and retired as a driver from General Electric. He enjoyed barbecuing, shooting pool and entertaining family and friends. He served his country faithfully and honorably during World War II and the Korean War in the United States Navy.
Left to honor his memory is, his wife of 48 years, Mary Bartholdi, sons; David Bartholdi and wife, Melda of Hemphill, TX, Gary Bohler of Jacksonville, FL, David Carroll and wife, Anita of North Richland Hills, TX, daughters; Jolynn Wars and husband, Shanon of Groveton, TX, Lori Jacks and husband, Buck of Milam, TX, Kathy Wright of Conroe, TX, as well as 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his brother; James Bartholdi, sisters; Delores, Mary, and Grace, son-in-law; Leland Wright, and grandson; Jacob Holmes.
We, the family of Joe, would like to thank the Groveton Nursing Home for the wonderful care they gave our dad for the past 3 years.
