Ida Lovada Brown

Ida Lovada Brown, 83, of Lumberton, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017. She was born January 28, 1934 in Beaumont. She was a graduate of French High School. She owned her own pet grooming company for a time, then was the head teller at Telco Credit Union. Ida was an active member of The First Baptist Church of Lumberton, where she enjoyed being part of the Sam’s Group. She loved her family with all of her heart, and she raised three wonderful children. She loved working on her lawn and riding her mower and she collected porcelain dolls. She never held a grudge and was always a true friend. She had a great sense of humor and could laugh at herself and her often mispronunciation of words. She was the definition of unconditional love.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Darrell L. Brown; daughter, Debbie Easter; sister, Dawilda F. Tarr, Dorothy Harrison, and Violet Adley; and brother, Harry Challie.

She is survived by her children, Carrie Whiddon and husband, Richard of Porter, and Jerry Stapert and wife, Lisa of Lumberton; grandchildren, Nick Easter, Chris Easter, Brittany Guillory, Danielle Whiddon, Leah Whiddon, Danielle Eichbauer, and Logan Stapert; brother, Bobby Challie and wife Jeanette of San Diego; and 8 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Her family will receive friends at Lumberton Family Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at The First Baptist Church of Lumberton, officiated by Reverend Kyle Warren. Interment will follow at R. S. Farmer Cemetery in Silsbee.

Serving as pallbearers will be Logan Stapert, Nick Easter, Chris Easter, Richard Whiddon, Fred Easter, and Chris Murphy.
