Ernest W. Dean passed away on June 5, 2019. He was born on February 16, 1938 in Woodville, TX to Floyd “Boots” Thomas Dean and Lois Dean.
A true outdoorsman, Ernest loved nature and always found ways to explore it. Ernest was a hunter and avid fisher, from alligators to prize bass, he was an angler at heart. He was a guide for duck hunting tours for many years and his complex knowledge was easily seen. The only thing he enjoyed more than being outdoors was being there with his grandchildren. Ernest was a very patient man, this proved useful while teaching his grandchildren to fish. He had the unique ability to fix anything, there wasn’t a problem to big for Ernest and he was happy to share his gift with anyone who needed it. Ernest had many friends, it was impossible for him to meet a stranger. Laziness wasn’t in his vocabulary, constantly busy, he always had a new project to work on. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew him, including his two best (cat) friends, “Hooter” and “Baby Kitty”.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Elizabeth Dean; son, Barry Dean and wife, Rachel of Kountze, TX; daughter, Jill Vincent and husband, Bobby of Willis, TX; brother, Bucky Dean of Tyler, TX; grandchildren, Bryant Laird, Alan Moore, Lindsey Moore, Joely Moore, Reagan Dean, and Mason Dean.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
A life honoring service will be held on Saturday June 8, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lumberton Family Funeral Home located at 766 S. Main Lumberton, TX.
