Dorothy Faye (Holmes) Peavy

Dorothy Faye Holmes Peavy was born October 13, 1937 in Foxworth, Mississippi to Maggie and Hezzie Holmes. She was the baby in a family of thirteen children. Dorothy moved to Texas in 1962, settling in Lumberton in 1976. She worked at several jobs over the years, landing at Lumberton Wal-Mart and retiring after 20 years of service.

She married Donald Peavy on December 29, 1968 and was preceded in death by him in 2018 after 51 years of marriage. Dorothy was called home to heaven on Saturday, October, 12, 2019, just one day before what would have been her 82nd birthday.

Dorothy leaves behind one brother, Hilton Holmes and sister-in-love Ruby of Mississippi; Sisters-in-love Diane Peavy Herrington and husband T.R. of California, Margie Firth and Edena Peavy of Washington, and Lillie Holmes of Mississippi; Three children, Keith Peavy and wife Jeannie of Lumberton, Mike Johnson of Lumberton, and Wanda Pender and husband Mike of Silsbee; she was blessed with seven grandchildren, Bradley Woods of Lumberton, Tyler Johnson and wife Kaela of Orange, Brandon Johnson of Mauriceville, Jarrod Peavy Brunner of Port Arthur, Jacob Peavy of Lumberton, Kelli Pender of Evadale, and Maggie Pender and husband Hunter of Silsbee; six great-grands, Brayden, Carter, Miah, Jak, Michael, and Eden; she also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as an abundance of friends- ALL of whom she loved dearly.

To celebrate the legacy of love the Dorothy leaves behind, there will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Church, 1103 Hwy 69 S., Lumberton, TX 77657.
