Darryl Von Massey

Darryl Von Massey, 81, of Sour Lake passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 29, 2019. Born October 3, 1937 to Brance and Jewel Massey in Ardmore, OK, Darryl grew up in Oklahoma where he would eventually meet his wife. Flora and Darryl met at a mutual friend’s house and gradually they moved towards marriage. Darryl was always remarkably proud to call Flora his wife, taking great joy in reminding her recently that they had shared 42 years of wedded bliss. Darryl was blessed with three children and eight grandchildren whom were all affectionally spoiled by their PawPaw. A quiet and thoughtful man, Darryl spent his entire working career in the oil field dedicated to a job that he loved. When not working Darryl could always be found tinkering with different machines and items that needed fixing or working with his hands in some manner. From making lamps from almost any item you could imagine, to building furniture Darryl was always building if he wasn’t fixing. Darryl will be remembered as a happy man, who loved life, was loyal to those he cared for, and always quick with a joke; he will be deeply missed.

Darryl is preceded in death by his parents, Brance and Jewel Massey; his children, Roland Wayne Buckley, Ronnie Lynn Buckley, and Debra Jeanette Buckley; and his grandchildren, Chance DeLane Buckley, and William Kurt Schroder.

Left to cherish is memory is his beloved wife of 42 years, Flora Massey; his grandchildren, Heather Buckley, Holly Buckley, Angela Renee Buckley, Brandon Wayne Buckley, Denver Lynn Buckley, and Darryl Kyle Schroder; his eight great grandchildren and many friends.
