Cecile Clauder Obituary

Cecile Marie Clauder

1942 - 2019

Cecile Marie Clauder, age 76, passed from this life on Sunday, March 10, 2019. She was born on September 24, 1942 to Cecil Alfred Verdine and Apha Jewell in Beaumont, TX.

Born with a joyful spirit and jolly nature, Cecile loved to have fun and never truly lost being a kid at heart. Always sociable and the life of the party, she never met a stranger, and had countless friends. Possessing heart as big as Texas, she would selflessly look for opportunities to do for others, never expecting anything back. No matter how bad Cecile felt, she would always be happy; if a friend or loved one wanted to spend time together, she would be there for them. In Nederland at her cousins’ home, she met Robert; it was “love at first bite”. After marrying on October 26, 1968, they spent the rest of their lives together. With a memory like an elephant, she would easily recall many intricate details. A long-time member of the unofficial ladies’ group at North End Baptist Church, “The Q-tips”, she loved spending time with them and was very active at her church with Bible studies, planning functions and faithfully attending. The little things in life meant a lot to her, and Christmas was one of her favorite times of year. Cecile was fondly known as “C.C.” and “Aunt Cecile” by her nieces and nephews. She loved her dogs; lately having two Terriers, Colby and Bridget. Artistic and creative, she was a talented painter, accomplished sewer and creative decorator; many hours were spent by Cecile in her “She-shed”, the air-conditioned headquarters for her numerous projects and crafts. Her devoted friendship, selfless nature and happy heart will be missed by all her loved ones.

Left to honor her memory is her loving husband of 50 years, Robert Clauder; sister, Beverly Barnett of Silsbee, TX; in-laws, Jimmy Clauder and wife, Jimmie Marie; nephew, Mike Barnett and wife, Karen, of Alvin, TX and Al Barnett and wife, Jennifer, of Silsbee, TX; great-nephew, Scott Barnett of Dallas, TX; great-niece, Jessica Fisher and husband, Jonathan, of Austin, TX; God-child, Christian Kimura of Beaumont, TX; and many extended family members, loved ones and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Leonard Barnett; and sister-in-law, Grace Woyteck.

Visitation with family and friends will be 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., Wednesday March 13, 2019, at North End Baptist Church, 5115 Eastex Fwy, Beaumont, TX 77706. Cecile’s life honoring service will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 13, 2019, also at the church, with Bro. Eric House and Bro. David Goolsby officiating.
