Cary Kendel Gatch, 70, of Silsbee, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 24, 2017 surrounded by family and friends. Kendel loved God, family, and country, and in that order. Kendel retired as a First-Class Boatswain's Mate from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service. While in the Navy, Kendel served a 6-month Mediterranean Cruise out of Virginia, 2 cruises in the North Atlantic, and was stationed in Jacksonville, Florida for 2 ½ years. Kendel loved the Lord and served faithfully at First Baptist Church in Silsbee. Kendel loved going on Mission Trips; 3 times to Canada, and once to Cincinnati at the Red Door Church. He also served as part of the Men’s Prayer Breakfast team, Head of the Usher Committee, and helped with the Sunday School records for the Student Ministry. Kendel also helped with VBS; he loved people and children.
Kendel is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Margie Gatch; a sister, Aline Cohrt; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Alice and Jerry Galloway of Silsbee.
Kendel is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Sharron Giroir Gatch; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Barbara and Jimmie Hanson of Orange; nieces and nephews, Tara and Trent Thompson of Brooklyn, NY, “Bo” and Monica Cohrt of Port Neches, Jamie and Misty Cohrt of Port Neches, Jerry “Buddy” and Jennifer Galloway of La Place, LA, Lisa and Lynn Grissom of Silsbee, Drew and Vickie Galloway of Silsbee, Stacey Galloway of Silsbee, Brandon and Nikki Hanson of Mauriceville, Shawn and Jeannine Hanson of Orange, and Dawn and Jeff Hartman of Orange; many great, and great-great nieces and nephews; as well as a host of friends whom he cherished.
