Carla Simmons Obituary

Carla Beth Haley Simmons

1960-2019

Carla Beth Simmons, age 58, passed away on February 8, 2019. She was born in Beaumont, TX on May 22, 1960 to Hugh Robert Haley and Anna Yvonne Chesser Haley.

Selfless and loving, Carla was a compassionate person and a Christian; she poured her love out to those around her. With her tenderhearted nature, Carla cared for people, and she would do anything for anyone. Her home and her heart were open to others, and many stayed at her home over the years, only to be blown away by her snack stockpile. Carla, or “Nana” as she was known to her granddaughter, always had the best snacks. Her care for others translated into the small ways of how she lived her life for her family: supporting her kid’s sports events and activities; caring for her mom and talking to her dad every day; and sending and receiving mail from her granddaughter, Samantha just for the fun of it. Carla loved to find a good bargain, whether on QVC, trade days or garage sales. She would get excited when she bought something and then when she would sell it. Often sitting for hours with her mom and Billy Ray watching for a good deal, QVC and the Home Shopping Network are going to miss her regular business. Don, her significant other, and Carla would often go to trade days and auctions to sell the crafts, such as her quilts, bedazzling and others, that she loved to make. The lake was always a favorite destination for her; she would fish with Don and her family and struggled, due to sleep apnea, to stay awake to drive the boat, but they always made it home safely. Carla was a passionate football fan, except for the New England Patriots; she always thought Tom Brady was a crybaby and that they were cheaters. Her memory and loving heart will be missed by all those that she loved, along with her snacks, bargain shopping habits and exceptional boat driving skills.

Left to honor her memory is her loving partner of 20 years and best friend, Don Julian; daughter, Leanna Rachell Frederick and husband, Jarrod, of Beaumont, TX; son, Billy Ray Simmons and wife, Amy, of Vidor, TX; granddaughter, Samantha Dixson of Vidor, TX; father of her children, Billy Simmons of Vidor, TX; brothers, John Haley and wife, Kayla, of Orangefield, TX; niece, MacKenzie Haley of Orangefield, TX; nephew, Connor Haley of Orangefield, TX; her puppies, Cassie Mae and Lexie Marie; and many extended family members.

Carla is preceded in death by her parents.
