Bobby Ray Sherman, 62, of Vidor, Texas passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2018. Bobby was born on April 1, 1956 in Beaumont, Texas to Billy Lumer and Helen Mae Sherman. Bobby always said he was special because he was born on April 1, and that year, 1956, it was also Easter Sunday. That has never happened since.
Bobby was a big kid at heart, he liked motorcycles, boats, and cars; he even raced boats in Louisiana and Florida. Bobby was self-reliant, he was a “hands-on” guy; he liked to take old things and restore them himself. His family said he probably never owned anything new, didn’t see the point when you could restore something old and make it useable again. Bobby worked as a diesel mechanic.
Grandkids where a big priority for Bobby, he enjoyed taking them for donuts and chocolate milk on Saturday mornings. He was a great storyteller and he had a great sense of humor. Bobby will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Billy Lumer and Helen Mae Sherman; and a brother, Bill Sherman.
Bobby is survived by his daughters, Stephanie Goodman, and Kristen Welch, and husband, Nathan; a son, Justin Sherman; grandchildren, Maegan, Austin, Zoe, Riley, Jaylen, Elisa, Brooklyn, and Remii; 4 great grandchildren; sisters, Francis Dean, and Linda Sherman; 4 nephews; as well as other family members and friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 8, 2018 from 10:00am to 12:00pm in the Chapel at Lumberton Family Funeral Home.
