Bernice Dowden

Bernice Goad Dowden passed away Saturday night at 10:30 p.m. at Hermann Memorial Hospital, Houston at the age of 87 stemming from complications of pneumonia. Bernice Dowden has spent her early years in healthcare at Beaumont's Baptist Hospital and afterwards became an underwriter in the Life insurance field for such companies as Magnolia Life and Combined Underwriters to name a few.

She was a mother of 6. Three boys and three girls. She is survived by her daughters Sue Avery, Nawasa Dowden and sons Burl Dowden and Stephen Dowden. Bernice had many grandchildren and great grandchildren. One daughter, Laverna Lee Suire, and Son Earl Robert Dowden preceded her death.

The family would like to thank everyone who prayed for our family during this difficult time, and say we love and appreciate each and every one for their kind words of love and encouragement.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Sunday February 19, 2017 at Suburban Acres Baptist Church, 6590 Lawrence Dr. Beaumont, TX, 77708. ( The church is about 1 block North West of Tractor Supply).
