Barbara D. Lowery

May 31, 1970 ~ January 16, 2019 (age 48)

Barbara Darlene Lowery

Barbara Darlene Lowery, age 48, passed away on January 16, 2019. She was born in Conroe, TX on May 31, 1970 and raised by her parents, Johnny Huey Lewis and Patsy Jean Loving Lewis.

Selfless and loyal, Barbara sacrificed every bit of her being for her family and for others. You never wondered what was on her mind; with a recognizable laugh, she would remind others of the absolute nature of her belief. With innocent eyes and naïve simplicity, she approached life; Barbara loved hard, worked hard and fought hard. No matter the circumstances, and despite the struggle with pain that she endured, she pushed through for her loved ones. At age 16 at the Pirate’s Cove Carwash wearing black flats, a blue jean skirt and a polka-dot shirt, she met a young man named Keith. To him, she may have been little bitty, but her attitude was not; telling Keith to “get out of the way”, her spunk made an impression that caught his attention. On June 27, 1987 they married and started their lives together. After the birth of their son, Keith and Barbara went on a voyage to find a church, ending up at the doors of Bridge City United Pentecostal Church; this decision changed everything, charting the course of their love story and turning their lives around. From the time she was filled with the Holy Ghost, she lived for God, often saying, “I don’t care what anyone else thinks; I’m gonna live for God how I best can.” When God gave her direction, she took it. She was encouraged by her father-in-law to go back to school and start her career in banking; Barbara would often say of this hero of hers that “he would chew you up and spit you out, and you wouldn’t know it for two days.” She put her whole heart into her career, moving from bank teller to loan processor through her commitment and hard work. Thrifty and money conscious, she could squeeze a penny; however, this came to a halt when she had her grandbabies. A momma to everyone, proud “GiGi” and devoted Christian, her strong faith in Jesus Christ gave her the grace to get through her last days on this earth; her family and friends will miss most the influence this determined, loving lady had on their lives.

Left to honor her memory is her loving husband of 31 years, Keith Lowery; son, Brandon Lowery and wife, Ashley, of Vidor, TX; daughters, Jessica Coots and husband, Brent, of Dayton, TX and Rachel Rich and husband, Josh, of Vidor, TX; brothers, Johnny Bo Lewis and wife, Lori, of Vidor, TX and David Lewis of Clear Lake, TX; sisters, Virginia Dyson of Trinity, TX, Stephanie Smith and partner, Dale Burns, of Grants, NM, Patrina Rich and husband, Marvin, of Vidor, TX and Summer Ramos and husband, Tino, of Center, TX; grandchildren, Kade Trest, Benjamin Coots and Lincoln Lowery; mother-in-law, Patricia Lowery of Vidor, TX; brother-in-law, Paul Aaron Lowery of Vidor, TX; and best friend, Pam Theiler and husband, Kevin, of Dayton, TX.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Johnny Huey Lewis and Patsy Jean Loving Lewis; father-in-law, Paul Lowery Jr.; and sister, Melissa Lewis-Wilburn.
