Alton Ross “Ace” Killion, of Austin, died Thursday, March 2, 2017, in Beaumont. He was 82.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 6, 2017, at Manchaca Baptist Church in Austin, with Jason White officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Onion Creek Memorial Park.

Alton was born February 24, 1935, in Santa Maria, Texas, to the late Alton Ross Killion, Sr. and Mary Martha Elizabeth Sosebee. After Mr. Killion’s death, Mary married John Holley Jordan, who raised Alton, and to whom Alton referred as his daddy for all of his days. Alton married Billie Kay Ross on October 21, 1952, in Combes, Texas. Alton worked in management for Luby’s Cafeterias in San Antonio, Corpus Christi, El Paso, and Austin. He retired in 1997 after 32 years. He was a member of Manchaca Baptist Church.

Alton loved being outdoors. In earlier days, he loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed riding his tractors and lawnmowers. On days that the weather was nice, Alton’s “happy place” was outside on his patio, with a cup of coffee in hand. Mexican food was his favorite, and he had a sweet tooth that could only be satisfied with peanut brittle, and Blue Bell Ice Cream. His favorite artist was Roy Orbison, and his favorite song of all time was “Oh, Pretty Woman.” He never shied from hard work, and he loved his family more than anything. He was affectionately called “Poppy” by his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and more recently, his son, Gary Wayne Killion, on September 16, 2016, and his wife and soulmate of 64 years, Billie Kay “BK” Killion, on October 24, 2016.

Survivors include daughters Donna Worden and her husband, Garry, of Frederick, OK; Rhonda Petruce and her husband, Ed, of Lubbock, TX, and Patricia “Trish” Knight and her husband, Dwain, of Amarillo, TX; his sister, Jacque McDonald of Rowlett, TX; and his brother, James Jordan and his wife, Carol, of Lumberton, TX, 17 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandson; four nieces, two nephews, and many other family members and friends, including his aunt, Jean Jordan of Fort Worth, TX.

Pallbearers are Troy Reynolds, Daniel Hand, Chuck Collins, Maximiliano Munoz, Ian Munoz, and Jason Ellison. Donations may be made in memory of Alton (“Ace”) to Manchaca Baptist Church, 1215 FM 1626, PO Box 400, Manchaca, TX 78652.
