Sue Richardson Obituary

Sue Nell Haney Richardson, of Village Mills, TX, was welcomed into Jesus’s loving arms on January 22, 2023. Born in Nacogdoches, TX, September 23, 1934 to W.B. “Joe” Haney and Vonnie Mae Haney, she was the second of three children. She is preceded in her heavenly transition by her husband, Freddy E. Richardson, her mother and father, her sister, Anita Faye Thompson, her brother, Weldon Haney, and her son, Stephen Roland Richardson.

Sue was raised in Beaumont, TX graduation from South Park High School and marrying the love of her life, Freddy Earl Richardson. Sue and Freddy Earl raised four children together, Freddy Glenn, Cindy Ann, Patricia Clydene, and Stephen Roland. She leaves behind to cherish her memories her son, Freddy Glenn Richardson, and her daughters, Cindy Ann Wright and Patricia Clydene Welborn, as well as her seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for being the matriarch of the Richardson family. Sue and Freddy lived in Wildwood for the past 26 years, and were members of Wildwood Baptist Church. Sue loved her ladies Sunday School Class as they loved her. Sue and Freddy both had a passion for travel in the United States, but mostly treasured the many summers (the entire summer) they spent in Colorado with the many friends they came to know and love.

Like all Haney’s, she never passed on an opportunity to introduce herself and she could carry on a conversation with a stranger as if she had known you for years. She could always find something to laugh or cry about, had some funny nightmares, and had some funny instances that someone would have thought was a nightmare. She loved all her family and she always had your back no matter how wrong you might be. She never stopped missing her mother, sister, brother, and son. We too will never stop missing her, but we find comfort in knowing that someday we will see her again in the presence of our Savior, Jesus Christ. “We are confident I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” (2 Corinthians 5:8 KJV)

One of Sue’s favorite sayings was that “I know heaven’s my home; but I’m not homesick just yet.” She loved life and held onto it for as long as she could. There were numerous times over the past few weeks that we thought it would be over soon, but she fought it. We believe she was being asked to come on, and she finally released January 22nd around 7:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Wildwood Baptist Church. Mom loved her church family, and this would be her desire.
