Sidney Benjamin Griggs

Sidney Benjamin Griggs, 56, of Vidor, arrived in Heaven to welcome his momma home on September 16, 2021. Sidney was born in Newton on October 19, 1964 to Joseph Lee Griggs Sr. and Grace Ann Whitman. A truer man of God and family man you wouldn’t find, devoted to his family and his church Sidney was the truest example of what faith and Jesus can do in a person’s life. Sidney was a country boy at heart and loved all things truest to the south- hunting and especially fishing. His country twang, which he loved to exaggerate whenever possible, was a memorable trait of Sidney’s that was second only to his penchant for spelling with as much distinctive twang as he used in his funny stories. Sidney could do almost anything with his hands and his sheer will of determination, his custom BBQ pits being just an example of that. Clever and smart as a whip, little got by Sidney and he was always quick with a turn of phrase to cause you to smile. Sidney loved to see others around him happy, not the least of which was his family. Sidney had two children whom he loved deeply and a wonderful wife of more than 12 years, Sara. This big-hearted man loved to laugh and could be a bit stubborn at times, but he was deeply loved and cared for by all who knew him. The stories of Sidney’s life could fill a novel- from fishing with friends across the US to epic recipes for crawfish and “drunk chicken”. His memory and legacy of love and loving the Lord will live on in the hearts of his friends and family.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Sara Ann Griggs; his son, Benjamin K. Griggs; his daughter, Samantha Ann Khanal and husband Shikchit; his sister, Twyla George and husband Andrew; his grandchildren, Marley Khanal, Dante Khanal, Joon Khanal, and Corben Griggs; and his step-son, Lindberg Molina.

Sidney was preceded in death by his father Joseph Lee Griggs Sr.; his brother Joseph Lee Griggs Jr.; and was joined by his beautiful mother Grace Ann Stanley who met him in heaven just hours after he left this world for Jesus’ home.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Parkway Life Church. Sidney's life honoring funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2021 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Parkway Life Church, with interment to take place at Griggs Cemetery.
