Orland Vernon Williford, 70, of Orange, TX passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023. He was born in Kountze, TX, on May 6, 1953, to Orland Vergil and Lillian Green Williford.
“O.V.” was a simple man, a man of honor and of integrity. Guided by his character and shaped by his faith, he believed in the Lord, hard work, and family. In him, an example was witnessed of how to live by principles and the value of a man’s word. "Junior" found joy in the beauty of Creation, tirelessly tending and caring for the soil and cultivating his garden, making his living in the forests through his logging career, and fostering any creature that needed a home. A wonderful husband, he provided and cared for the love of his life, Vonnye. Their love was meant to be, and they both knew it, courting for three months before sealing their love in marriage on December 21, 1973. He was a fun dad and, when he became a grandparent, an exceptional “Pawpaw”. Through storytelling he was able to captivate others; and by joining his sense of humor, he told many stories that would entertain kids, explain phenomena, or teach lessons. It made him a kind of folk hero to his children and grandchildren. He passed from this life in the peace and comfort of his home with his precious Vonnye at his side, surrounded by the family he loved so much. He will be remembered by the good name and legacy that he leaves on this Earth.
Left to honor his memory is his beloved wife, Vonnye Williford, of Orange, TX; sons, Virgil Williford and wife, Karina Chacon, of Gist, TX, and Logan Williford and wife, Brandi, of Mauriceville, TX; daughter, Jancy Williford, of Mauriceville, TX; brother, Rayburn Williford, of Magnolia Springs, TX; grandchildren, Ashlee Broussard and husband, Brennan, Chelsea Williford, Alexus Monceaux and husband, Dustin, Danna Beecher, Josh Rachford, Ryan Rachford, Mattie Williford, Marley Harris, Orlando Williford, Ciela Spears, Bethany Spears, and Roman Spears; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Amelia, and Elijah Broussard, Elliott and Griffin Monceaux, Wyatt Moody, Mae Groves, and Simon Groves; and a host of extended family, friends, and loved ones.
