Melvin Savoy Jr.

Melvin Savoy Jr. age 56, of Beaumont, Texas, passed away Thursday October 15, 2020. Melvin was born on August 7, 1964 in Beaumont, Texas to Jessie Mae (Lewis) Savoy and Melvin Savoy Sr. One of eleven children, Melvin grew up and has spent his entire life in the Beaumont area. Deeply family oriented and a confirmed mama’s boy, Melvin took a lot of joy in spending time with his family and particularly his grandbabies. A giving man and truly capable of doing anything he set his mind too, Melvin could be depended on to do anything asked of him. Described by those who knew him best as a true “Angel on Earth” he was a joyful man who loved to laugh and was a devoted and loving partner to his beloved fiancée, Susan. Melvin took particular pride in several things in his life; his meticulous attention to his home and personal appearance, his talent as a mechanic who could fix almost anything, and his passionate love of cooking chef-like masterpieces, such as pigs feet and ox tails, for those he loved will certainly not soon be forgotten. Melvin will be truly missed by his fiancée, family, and friends and will always be remembered.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving fiancée Susan Thomas; Daughters, Catherine Walker of Beaumont, Texas; Quintella Hawkins of Beaumont, Texas; Sabrina Hawkins of Beaumont, Texas Alexandria Savoy of Beaumont, Texas; Son, Alex Savoy-Alvis (Olivia) of Vidor, Texas; Sister, JoHelen (Derek) DePlanter, Shelia (Haven) Lloyd, Sonya (Tommy) Savoy, April (Adam) Wade, Jessica (Greg) Jones all of Beaumont, Texas; Brothers, Jeffery (Earline) Savoy, Andrew (Tabitha) Savoy, Kevin Savoy, Jonathon (Angel) Savoy all of Beaumont, Texas; Grandchildren, Rysheka Blinks, Barbara Blinks, Mckenzie Walker, La'Brina Walker, Donald Walker, Keneth Holts, Catherine Gray, Glendal Green, Zaperior Green, Cason Cameron Alvis, Adalyn Grace Alvis, Cora Belle Alvis; as well as a host of uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Melvin Savoy Sr. and Jessie Mae Lewis Savoy; Grandmother, Helen Silverand; Son, Marcus Savoy; and sister Janice Savoy all of Beaumont, Texas.

Life Honoring services for Melvin Savoy Jr. will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Solid Rock Community Church of Beaumont, 5095 Pine Burr Blvd. Beaumont, TX 77708; a time of visitation will be held from 10:00-10:30 AM on Thursday, October 22, 2020 and funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM on Thursday, October 22, 2020. Internment will follow the funeral services on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Magnolia Cemetery in Beaumont, TX at 12:30 PM.
