Mary Elizabeth (Agee) Walker, BSN, MSN, EPD, DNP, RN, IBCLC

Mary Agee Walker, BSN, MSN, EBD, DNP, RN, IBCLC, 66, passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at her home in Lumberton. Mary was born on November 10, 1954 in Franklin, Louisiana to Jerrel Lee Agee Sr. and Elizabeth Agee and was one of four children.

Mary accomplished many things during her 66 years here and truly devoted her life the education and nursing. Many students over the last 20 years have benefited from her passionate pursuit of knowledge as she taught with Lamar University for more than 20 years. Specializing in many fields that were close to her heart, Mary particularly focused much of her career in Lactation, Research, Normal Newborn and Neonatal Intensive Care. In fact, Mary was a true innovator in her field as one of the first certified Lactation Specialist in the Beaumont area. A strong and capable woman, Mary pushed through many challenges to continue to teach even as she battled cancer for many years. When Mary finally succumbed to her battle with cancer, she had been married to the love of her life Robert for more than 44 years and raised two children. The same devotion to caring for others was never absent in Mary’s care and love of her family. A wonderful sister, wife, mother, and best friend- Mary had a way of letting others know what needed to be done with the kind disposition you would expect from someone with such a tender heart. Mary’s husband and family will truly miss her, and the impact that she had on everyone who knew her or was taught by her will never be forgotten.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Robert E. Walker; her sons, Bret Allen Walker, David Matthew Walker and wife Emily; her siblings, Julia Rairdon and husband Stan, Linda Hood, and Jerrel Agee Jr.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Jerrel Agee Sr. and Elizabeth Berry Agee.

A Memorial Service to honor Mary’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 beginning at 10:00AM at First Baptist Church of Lumberton, 1206 S Main St. Lumberton, TX 77657.
