Karen Nan Johnston-Jorden, age 74, of Beaumont, Texas passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Warren and Virginia Johnston, born October 11, 1948.
Karen was a lifelong resident in this area and graduated from Forest Park High School and attended Lamar for Music Education. She was a professional musician, prominent piano, violin, and viola teacher, and was a violinist for The Symphony of Southeast Texas serving faithfully for 50 years. Karen loved spending time with her family, and well as her many students. They meant everything to her, and she passed on her great love of music to them. She was a great cook, loved old time cowboy movies, enjoyed gardening, riding horses, dancing, and was a very hard worker. She looked forward every year to playing viola for the Calvary Christmas programs. She loved Jesus and trusted in His righteousness alone to save her, not in her own good deeds. She is certainly in His presence at this moment.
Left to cherish her memory is her sister, Judy Rouchon, and husband, Pat; 5 adoring children, Ben Jorden and wife, Kelli, Molly Barnett and husband, Casey, Murphy Jorden, Elissa Jorden, and Leah Jorden; 8 grandchildren, Brinden Jorden, Jacob Barnett, Joshua Barnett, Abigale Jorden, Elizabeth Gillies, Vivian Burns, and husband, George, Chreshna Moncada, and Alishia Moncada; great-grandson, Kaden Barnett; and a host of nieces and nephews, extended family, friends, and loved ones.
Karen was proceeded in death by her parents; and sister, Kim Connelly.
We love you so much, Mom, and miss you greatly. We hold a special excitement in our hearts knowing that one day soon we will see you again.
