Frances Marie (Wilson) Matthews

Frances Marie Matthews, 87, passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2021 in Lumberton. She was born in LaRue, TX on February 25, 1934 to Milton Wilson and Sara Mills.

Frances Matthews was a natural born caregiver. She had an intuitive sense of hospitality that was best seen through the love she gave her children, and her husband of 58 years, who were the light of her life. Her essence of warmth and motherly nature was heightened as she was always making sure her family was cared and provided for.  Those who knew her best described Frances as thoughtful, kind-hearted, and always putting other’s needs before her own. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she cherished and she will not be soon forgotten.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Cary Matthews and wife Marla, Joan Matthews, and Judy Dunkleberger and husband Todd; her grandchildren, Jay Matthews and wife Amber, Stacy Hinch and husband Josh, Ryan Dunkleberger, Brandtley Matthews, Jennifer Matthews, and Marie Matthews; and her great-grandchildren, Emily Matthews, Hallie Hinch, and Carter Hinch.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband, William Cary Matthews; her parents, Milton Wilson and Sara Ann Mills; and her sons, Don Matthews and Jerry Matthews.

A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 from 5:00-7:00PM at Lumberton Family Funeral Home, 766 S Main St. Lumberton, TX 77567. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 beginning at 10:00AM at Lumberton Family Funeral Home, 766 S Main St. Lumberton, TX 77657 with internment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine St. Beaumont, TX 77703.
