Ernest Donald Williford

Ernest Donald Williford age 86, of Lumberton, Texas passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at his daughters' home in The Colony, Texas, surrounded by his family. He was born in Silsbee, Texas, on June 19, 1936, to Ernest Thomas and Flonnie Burns Williford. 

Ernest was a resident of Lumberton, Texas. He graduated from Warren High School, where he played football and earned three letter jackets. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany as a crane operator from 1959 through 1961. He later attended Lamar College for technical training and was an electrician at North Star Steel Mill, until he retired in 1998. In his earlier years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf, traveling, and working in his shop. He also loved playing Mexican train and Texas 42 with his church buddies. He loved spending time with his family and especially with his grandkids and great grandkids. He always looked forward to weekly gatherings at his home with a group of his church friends to play guitar and sing classic country and gospel music.

Left to honor his memory is his wife of 61 years, Carole Williford, of Lumberton, TX; daughters, Connie Campbell and son-in-law, Rick, of The Colony, Texas, and Debbie Stock and son-in-law, Ricky, of Melissa, Texas; granddaughter, Mandi Campbell-Dan and husband, Hawk; grandsons, Travis Campbell of Dallas, Texas, and Blake Stock of Melissa, Texas; great-granddaughters, Charli and Zoie Dan; brother, J.T. Williford and wife, Coretta, of Houston, Texas; and sister, Mary Nell Weatherford and husband, Sterling, of Vidor, Texas; as well as a host of extended family, friends, and loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dorothy Daniels, Patsy Carrell, and Thelma Bowen; and brother-in-law, Ed Carrell.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Crestwood Baptist Church, 1150 US-69 Kountze, TX 77625.
