Dennis Dickerson

Dennis Ray Dickerson, 78, of Beaumont, TX, passed from this life on Thursday, June 23, 2022. Dennis was born in Beaumont, TX on May 25, 1944 to Daniel Mack and Katie Aline Jones Dickerson.

Big-hearted and unconditional, Dennis loved with every ounce of his being, but none felt his love more deeply than his family. His sense of humor was unbridled and generous and bringing a laugh or smile to others brought him joy. To him, the subject mattered not, he could dish it out and take it all in stride, just as long as he brought happiness and lifted everyone’s spirit. When his children were growing up, not only was he the “cool dad”, but he made every effort to be invested in his children’s lives. Often, he could be known to be set in his ways, “The Dennis Way”, but he was passionate about certain things, and this produced in him an unwavering and steady demeanor. He was tough, a fighter, if a cat had nine lives, Dennis had many more. During many injuries, illnesses, wrecks, and various tragedies that would take down the average person, he just kept going, pushing, and fighting. Aside from spending time with his family, he had a passion for speed. He loved racing his cars and boats, and also loved riding his motorcycles, hunting, and fishing. “PawPaw” loved his grandchildren, an extension of his intimate care for his own beloved children. Barbecue was his favorite food, Diet Coke was his favorite drink, and from Moon Pies to Pecan Pie, if it had Pie in the name, it was the dessert for him. Though he is gone, Dennis knew when his time had come to depart this world, yet he leaves behind a depth of love and innumerable memories that will forever be cherished by those who felt his love.

Left to honor his memory is his son, Donald Dickerson and wife, Tammy; daughters, Vicki King and husband, Duane, and Dawn Trahan Fournier Frederick and husband, Brian; brother, Mack Dickerson; sister, Tyanna Herford; grandchildren, Jacob King, Paige King, Jerrod Dickerson and wife, Kay, Sara Dickerson and boyfriend, Brandon Lewis, Trey Fournier and wife, Amy, Ashlyn Ewest and husband, Travis, Haylee Fournier, and Torie Fournier; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and a host of extended family, friends, and loved ones.

Preceding Dennis in death are his parents.

Visitation with family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 1, 2022, at Lumberton Family Funeral Home, 766 S. Main St., Lumberton, TX. Dennis’s life honoring memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m., also at the funeral home.
