Bobby Gene Henson Sr.

 Bobby Gene Henson Sr., 85, passed away on Friday, April 16, 2021. Bobby was born in Conroe, TX on May 22, 1935 to E. O. and Eva Avant Henson.

A man of integrity and honesty, he was dependable and steadfast, not unlike the Fords that he admired for life. He truly never met a stranger, and although he was an avid and thorough talker, anyone he met would soon become a friend. Bobby was an extremely devoted man and worked tirelessly to provide. The love he had for his family was profound, and spending time with them was by far his favorite activity. After working at a distribution center for a while, not sure why he waited so long, he asked a young Mary that worked in the office out for a movie. Their love would spark and endure for the next 65 years. Until the very end, he made sure that she and their family was taken care of down to the finest of details. He loved; he cared. Bobby could often be found cheering on his favorite Nascar drivers, but especially if they were racing in a ford. At heart Bobby was an adventurer, he would visit 25 states every year with his beloved wife Mary, in their Ford station wagon. Bobby did not always have to be traveling to find excitement, everything from watching the cowboys play, to singing along with George Jones, was done with such jubilance that everyone around him would light up. Bobby was a great man who was loved and cherished by many, and he will not be soon forgotten.

Left to cherish his memory the love of his life, Mary Henson; sons, Bobby G. Henson Jr. and wife, Dory ,of Tacoma, WA, Michael Henson and wife, Barbara, of Vidor, TX; daughter, Donna Zuniga and husband, Brian K. Foley, of Tacoma, WA; grandchildren, Sara K. Richardson and husband, Pete, Shanna R. Lisenby and partner, Kyle, Brandon Zuniga, Jonathan Zuniga, Kristian Henson, Elizabeth Henson, Brandye Henson, and Bobby Henson III; great-grandchildren, Mia Richardson, Samuel Richardson, Quinton Haynes, Keegan Ardion, Karter Ardion, Dayton, Addison, and Vince; his favorite “pup dogs” and adopted grandchildren, “Roxy”, “Apollo”, and “Glacier”, and kitty cat, “Hope”; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parent; son, Glenn F. Henson; sisters, Cherrie Gentz, Rita Chance, Rae McConnell, and Neta Hubble; and great-grandchild Riley.

A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2021 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at Christ Community Church, 4125 N. Main St Vidor, TX 77662. The funeral service will be on Friday, April 23, 2021 at 2:00 PM, also at the church.
