Audrey Broadway Obituary

Audrey Huff Broadway, 91, of Vidor went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, February 11, 2020. Born August 22, 1928 in Harrisonburg, LA to Narl H. Huff and Nancy Angeline Crawford Huff, she was the fourth of eight children. Audrey attended Harrisonburg High School in Harrisonburg, LA where she graduated after only 11 years. Audrey came to Beaumont, TX to be a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell after graduation. Audrey married the love of her life, Fern Thompson Broadway on March 4, 1949 and spent 69 years together before he passed in 2019. Audrey became a full-time housewife after the birth of Audrey and Fern’s first child. In 1960 Fern and Audrey moved to Vidor, TX to Audrey’s dream home complete with a barn and garden; this home full of memories and love is where the couple raised their six children. Raised on a farm, Audrey always had a love of plants and translated that into a passion for gardening later in life. A consummate lover of nature, Audrey also enjoyed fishing and spending time surrounded by beautiful gardens and flowers. As a seamstress later in life, Audrey made so many beautiful quilts over the years that her hands showed the permanent dedication and constant use. Audrey never grew tired of being at home with her children or family and it is clear to all who knew her that her family was her greatest joy in life.
