Vermon Seigrist Obituary

Vermon Ray Seigrist

September 27, 1925 – June 19, 2019

Vermon Ray Seigrist, age 93, of Vidor, TX, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2019. He was born in Russellville, Arkansas on September 27, 1925 to Samuel Phillip Seigrist and Bertha Bethenabell Brewer Seigrist.

A servant and a faithful Christian, Vermon may not have done everything right, but he did his best. As a young man he fell in love with the Gospel; experiencing salvation in a little country church in Arkansas with his mother, a fiery passion started in his heart for the Lord that burned brightly for 70 years. Tough and committed, Vermon was unshakably faithful in his beliefs. Never losing his infectious smile that lifted others up, he often reminded his loved ones of Job; no matter the circumstances or the present trials, he trusted that God used him in every situation. Losing his dad at a very young age, he stepped up and took the role as provider and caregiver for his family, forging a deep love for his mother and a special bond with his siblings. He was a hard worker; both naturally, as a longtime mechanic, roofer, and jack of all trades, and spiritually, as the patriarch of his church and mentor to so many young men, Vermon stayed hard at work till the very end. Blessed with nine children, his life’s goal was to ensure that his children knew the Lord, and he invested in them, spending countless hours with them on trips and being there for them. An avid fisherman, if he was fishing, he was happy, and he passed this love for the outdoors, hunting and fishing on to his family. Though he is gone, the legacy of his heart of servitude and living for others will never be forgotten, as he receives his Heavenly reward.

Left to honor his memory is his son, Clint Alen Seigrist of Vidor, TX; daughters, Barbara Ann Haining of Vidor, TX, Lois Fay Senn and husband, Timmy, of Gladewater, TX, Vanessa Lynn Bailey and husband, Rodney, of Vidor, TX, Billie Marie Will of Vidor, TX; daughter-in-law, Fredonna Seigrist of Vidor, TX; son-in-law, Stanley Schafer of Vidor, TX; 23 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, adopted children, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Castile Seigrist; his parents; sons, Donny Ray Seigrist, James Phillip Seigrist and Benny Ray Seigrist; daughter, Naomie Ruth Schafer; grandchildren, Jody Lee Davila and Donna Renee Davila; brothers, Edward Leroy Seigrist, Rayburn Phillip Seigrist and Cleburn Dale Seigrist; and sister, Bonnie Iona Halbrook.
