James "Jamie" Goins

James Dowin Goins Sr., of Lumberton, TX, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 7, 2018. He was known most by Jaime and/or Pops.  Pops was born on February 11, 1959 to Elton Ray and Vivian Rae Goins in Kountze, TX. He worked as an “A-Operator” on offshore production platforms.

Pops was a friendly man in which his family stated that “he has never met a stranger.”  He would strike up a conversation with everyone he met, and everyone he met liked him.  Pops had a great sense of humor and was a happy person.  He liked to watch football, especially college football, the Sci-Fi channel and watched Jeopardy every day.

He is survived by sisters Pam Pope and husband Lonnie Pope of Crystal Beach, TX; Debbie Rogers and husband Arnold Rogers of Lumberton, TX; brother Elton Ray Goins Jr and wife Mary Goins of Lumberton, TX; his sons James Dowin Goins Jr and William Cody Goins of Watauga, TX; daughter in laws Elizabeth Goins and Heather Hix and his grandchildren Dax James Goins, Emberly Kayla Goins, Cayden Joe Wayne Hix and Emmalynn Rachelle Hix, as well as a numerous of family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by parents Elton Ray Goins Sr and Vivian Rae Goins.

A Life Honoring Memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 10:00a. in the Chapel at Lumberton Family Funeral Home.
