Floyd Anthony (Tony) Martel, age 57, passed away August 3, 2019 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, TX. Tony was born April 5, 1962 in Beaumont, TX to Floyd Adam Martel and Constance June Martel.
Reliable and hardworking, Tony wasn’t complicated. His career was somewhat diversified – he worked as a pipe inspector both domestically and abroad in his early years and later in life as a fabricator at M&I Electric in Beaumont. After he left M&I, he worked as a handyman and often refused the help of others due to his independent nature. You could always count on him to help out: whether you knew him well or not, he would happily lend a helping hand to anyone. Tony was a remarkable cook and loved to share his creations with friends and family – a few specialties were his chicken and sausage gumbo and a jambalaya/dirty rice that was out of this world. If you ever ate his food, you knew he had a special hankering for spicy food, but his favorite pastime was frying fish and spending time with friends. Throughout the years, he showed strength in the face of may adversities and will always be remembered for his uniqueness.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents. Left to honor his memory are his girl-friend, Felicia Reyes; son, Austin Martel of Beaumont, TX, daughter, Presley Martel of Winnie, TX; sisters, Melisa Yellott of Silsbee, TX, Dana June Jetsel of Beaumont, TX, Darla Garrison of Beaumont, TX; grandchild, Isaak Trejo of Winnie, TX., and a host of family and friends who will him greatly.
A service honoring Tony’s life will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Lumberton Family Funeral Home Chapel, 766 S. Main, Lumberton, TX, 77657
