Anne Williams Obituary

Anne Williams

1941 - 2019

Elizabeth Anne Bird Williams, age 77, passed from this life on April 20, 2019. She was born in Sweetwater, TX on September 6, 1941 to Charles Everett Bird and Elizabeth Nicholson Bird.

Sweet and loving, she was a wonderful, Christian lady. Anne had a tender, precious nature, but underneath, was a strong character and faith that was unwavering. A mother of three, she poured her love and character into their lives, setting an example of hard work, faith in Christ and dedication to family. As an elementary school and music teacher, her 30-year career in education was a manifestation of a heart and life that was devoted to uplifting and edifying others, and after retirement, passionately continued her even longer career as a Sunday School teacher. On December 12, 1992, Anne married the love of her life, Kenneth, and they spent every day since then, so in love that they never stopped dating. They loved going out to eat at any restaurant, sharing a lunch date together, every day, for the last ten years. An exceptional pianist, her love for playing started in her youth, playing as soon as she was old enough. Church gave her an opportunity to bless others with her passion, serving as a church pianist for many years and playing as Kenneth would sing. If there ever lived a woman that deserved the title “Grandma”, it was Anne; she loved being a grandmother. She studied the art of cooking by avidly watching cooking shows and amassing a collection of cookbooks, but never had a desire to apply her extensive knowledge, though she would occasionally solicit others to attempt to recreate the gourmet meals she saw on TV. Purple was her favorite color, and if you bought her a gift, it needed to be purple. A song that she loved and played often, “Victory in Jesus,” serves as a fitting anthem for this special lady and the life that she lived on this Earth. Anne leaves behind a cherished memory of love, kindness and faithful dedication.

Left to honor her memory is her loving husband of 26 years, Kenneth Williams; daughter, Tracey Gomez of Lumberton, TX; sons, Ron Wallingsford and wife, Hiroko, of Lumberton, TX and Chad Wallingsford and wife, Wende, of Lumberton, TX; brothers, Ershel Bird and W.A. Bird and wife, Fran; grandchildren, C.J., Chryste, Logan, Ronny, Nicole, Randy, Ryan, Philece and Wes; great-grandchildren, Timothy, Cayden, Avery, Caleb, Savannah, Jasyn, James, Selena, Raven and Reid; and numerous extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Charles Bird.
