Alisa Katherine Kern

Alisa Katherine Kern, 50, of Lumberton, was born September 14, 1969 and passed away on Friday, November 22, 2019. Alisa, the second daughter of Madonna Katherine (Andrews) Kern and Wesley Gene Kern, spent most of her life here in the south east Texas area. Alisa graduated from Lumberton with the class of ’88 and went on to proudly earn her nursing degree from Lamar University with the graduating class of ’96. Being a nurse was the embodiment of what made Alisa so special- she was always looking for ways to care for others. Well know for her kindness and gentle manner with others, Alisa truly loved helping people. A consummate sounding board for her beloved daughters, Morgan and Shelby, Alisa was always near by for advice or comfort with whatever the girls might be struggling with. A Nana to her beautiful granddaughters, Allison and Ryleigh, she could be found coloring with Alli or maybe playing outside as often as possible. Alisa’s love for others and caring manner made her a person that others always wanted to be around, whether to hear her sing or simply share an easy laugh with her. If not working or doting on her family, you might find Alisa outside where her knack for finding 4-leaf clovers was second to none other, and her penchant for making beautiful things grow truly brought her joy. Although blessed with many gifts, those who knew Alisa best will cherish the strength of her kindness and the passion for caring for others above herself.

Alisa is survived by her parents, Madonna Katherine Kern and Wesley Gene Kern; her sister, Sharon Douglas; her daughters, Morgan Haynes and husband AJ, and Shelby Harwell and significant other Billy Bennett; her granddaughters, Allison Joy Haynes, and Ryleigh Rose Bennett; as well as numerous co-workers and friends. Alisa Katherine Kern joins her beloved little brother, Wesley “Bubba” Kern Jr. in heaven.

To honor Alisa's life, the family will have a time of visitation on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Lumberton Family Funeral Home, 766 S. Main St., Lumberton, TX 77657. Funeral services celebrating Alisa's life will begin at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at Lumberton Family Funeral Home, 766 S. Main St., Lumberton, TX 77657. Burial will follow at 3:30 PM at Magnolia Cemetery in Beaumont, TX.
