Una Mae Deville, age 91, of Lumberton, TX, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2024. She was born on December 16, 1932, in Church Point, LA, to Joseph Eurick Richard and Stella Bellard Richard.
Una was born in The Depression and has been there ever since, making her a very frugal and resourceful woman. She was a heartfelt and beautiful writer who was proud of her Cajun heritage and would often say: “Cajuns are tough and made of good stuff.” Una was an amazing cook, and you would never leave her home with an empty stomach. She was a passionate gardener and would be found tending the yard until she was 90 years old! Passionate, willful, “mean as hell”; “Nanny” will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Gay Nell Deville of Lumberton, TX; brother, Hilton Richard; sister, Louise Fontenot; granddaughter, Kayla Deville Tiller and husband, Adam; and great-grandchild, Briar Grace Tiller.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alvin Leo Deville; son, Alvin Randall Deville; brother, Herbert Richard; and sister, Hilda Patin.
