Marv Robertson Obituary

Marv Anthony Robertson passed away on March 20, 2024, at the age of 68.  Marv was born September 1, 1955, in Waco, Texas to Bill and Delorous Robertson.  After a family move, Marv attended Vidor High School where “Most Handsome” met Cheryl, truly the greatest gift and love of his life. Marv and Cheryl married on January 5, 1974, and recently celebrated their 50th anniversary. Marv was a smart and dedicated worker throughout his work career. He initially worked as an iron worker at Norstock Steel and was quickly promoted to crew foreman. Marv then joined Dupont where he was a mechanic and an electrician. He finished his career at BASF, where he was an operator and a member of the BASF firefighting team.

Marv had a HUGE personality and will always be remembered as one of the greatest storytellers ever. He literally could make anything funny and enjoyed keeping everyone laughing. He loved to give people nicknames (whether you knew it or not!). Marv was an extremely talented carpenter and craftsman, could build or fix nearly anything, and he often used those talents to help others. However, Marv’s greatest joy was being a husband and father. He was so proud of Matt, and they enjoyed the Dallas Cowboys and WOS sports together. Marv’s faithful black lab, DJ, was always by his side. Marv was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Vidor. His faith was deep during his illness, and he never hesitated to tell others about his security in Christ.

Marv loved his cars, trucks and motorcycles and maintained them meticulously. Another great love of his was playing golf.  He taught Matt to play at the age of 10 and they enjoyed playing golf together over the years.  He was always ready for an adventure with his family through his love of RVing and time at the lake or beach.

Marv was preceded in death by his father, Bill H. Robertson. He is survived by his sweetheart and devoted wife, Cheryl of Orangefield, his son Matthew Robertson and Krista Adams of Orange, mother Delorous Robertson of Beaumont, brothers Greg (Nancy) Robertson of Plano, Brad (Marianne) Robertson of Beaumont, Trey (Valerie) Robertson of China, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be March 23, at 9:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Vidor.  Funeral Service will follow at 10:00 a.m. led by Reverend Terry Wright.  Interment will follow at Claybar Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.  In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the First Baptist Church of Vidor Benevolence Fund (350 North Main, Vidor, TX 77662).
