William Jennings Norrell, Jr.

William “Sonny” Norrell, of Vidor, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2016. He was born in Brandon, Mississippi on October 16, 1943. He moved to Houston in 1947. After high school, he worked at the ARMCO Steel Mill. He married Beverly Brown, from Houston, TX, in 1964. They had one son, Shannon Norrell. Sonny moved to Bolivar Peninsula in 1984 to pursue his love of hunting and fishing and was a guide for 10 years. In 1991, he met and married the love of his life, Mary “Chicki” Ratcliff. He then went into real estate and later was a contractor in Crystal Beach, TX. After retiring, he was able to spend more time traveling, fishing with his son and “Favorite” brother-in-law, Chuck Kennison. He spent many memorable years duck hunting with his step-son, Pete Elliott.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Dorothy Norrell.

He is survived by his wife, “Chicki” Kennison Ratcliff; step-brother, Don “Butch” Parrott; son, Shannon Norrell; step-son, Pete Elliott, and four grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
