Wayne Alvis Payne

Wayne Alvis Payne, 82, of Kountze, TX went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 27, 2017.  Alvis was born on July 27, 1935 in Hemphill, TX to James Edger Payne and Bertha Lee Chance Payne.  Alvis served his country honorable for 20 years, first, 12 years in the U.S. Army and then 8 years in the U.S. Air Force.  He joined the service to see the world, and he did. Alvis loved the Lord and his church; when able, he attended every chance he could.  He also really enjoyed his Monday night Bible study group.

Alvis was preceded in death by his parents, James Edger Payne, and Bertha Lee Chance Payne; a brother, James E. Payne; and a sister, Onia B. Gray.

Alvis is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Dorothy Mae Payne; his children, Teresa Young, and husband, Ray, Charlie Payne, and wife, Cherry, Debra Dosch, and husband, Del, and Brigitte Holick, and husband, Joey; step daughter, Denise Barnhill; step son DeVaine Barnhill, Jr., and wife, Amanda; brothers, Esker Lee Payne, and wife, Vada, and Arthur Payne, and wife Anna; 9 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.   He will be missed by all who were privileged to know him.
